Guus Hiddink arrived in London this morning ahead of becoming Chelsea interim manager.

The Dutch coach will replace Jose Mourinho until the end of the season, although he is currently in a London hotel discussing the terms of his contract with the Chelsea hierarchy, according to the BBC.

Hiddink's appointment is a formality, with the Dutch coach to become interim coach of Chelsea for the second time. He is expected to take charge of the match against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

In his first spell, taking over from Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2009, Hiddink lost just one of his 22 matches in charge of the Blues, winning the FA Cup.

However, in three jobs since leaving the club Hiddink has fared rather worse - he was sacked by Turkey after failing to qualify for Euro 2012. He then led Anzhi Makhachkala to third in the Russian Premier League before surprisingly stepping down.

Guus Hiddink Profile

His last job saw him take over from Louis van Gaal, who had led the Netherlands to the World Cup semi-final in 2014. But Hiddink lasted just 10 matches in a truly disastrous spell, and was fired with the Oranje on the brink of failing to qualify for Euro 2016.

Jose Mourinho, who was named Manager of the Year last season after leading Chelsea to their first Premier League title in five years, was sacked with the club just a point above the relegation zone.

The Portuguese has been named favourite by the bookies to be the next manager of Manchester United.
