Kane broke Teddy Sheringham's club record for goals in a year

Mauricio Pochettino hailed Tottenham's attacking duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli after the pair inspired Spurs to a 3-0 win over Norwich.

Kane scored twice in the first half at White Hart Lane as the striker took his 2015 tally to 27 league goals, breaking Teddy Sheringham's club record. Tom Carroll added a third late on.

Alli was instrumental in both Kane's goals, sliding in a clever pass which led to the opener from the penalty spot before laying his team-mate on for a second on the counter-attack.

The midfielder came off to a standing ovation in the second half as Tottenham moved three points clear of Manchester United in the race for the top four.

"It's fantastic the way Harry works, his character and personality," Pochettino said.

"He deserves all the praise and I am very pleased for him but I am very pleased for all the team because we work hard every day and then when we show it on the pitch it's fantastic for them."

On Alli, Pochettino added: "He has shown his talent, character and personality on the pitch very quickly.

"He has been with us only six months but it seems like he has been here 10 years, the way he plays."

The only concern for Spurs surrounds the fitness of Mousa Dembele after the Belgian took a knock to his ankle and is now struggling to be available for Monday's game at Watford.

Dembele sat out the defeat to Newcastle two weeks ago with a similar problem and Pochettino admitted the midfielder would have to be assessed.

"It's a knock on the same ankle but we hope it's not a big issue," Pochettino said. "We'll assess tomorrow and see if he is ready for Monday."
