Harry Kane says the ankle injury that will keep him out of action for Tottenham until March is feeling “great”.
Kane, who damaged his ankle in the league defeat against Manchester United, has missed Tottenham’s last five matches, during which Mauricio Pochettino’s side have gone out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup and won their three Premier League games.
The initial assessment of Kane’s injury suggested that he will be out until March at the earliest, however, Tottenham are quietly confident about his recovery, as is the forward himself.
"It's going well. I went away for some warm weather training and we're stepping it up,” he told Sky Sports.

"[We will] see next week how we go, start to get the balls out and just see how the ankle reacts. It's going well so far, but we have just got to take our time with it and make sure we get it right.
"I never put a time on any of my injuries. It is just about how it feels. The ankle feels great at the moment, so as long as the swelling stays away and we can keep progressing, that would be great."
Defeats against Chelsea and Crystal Palace spelt the end of Tottenham’s campaigns in domestic cups, but late wins against Fulham, Watford and Newcastle has kept them comfortably within the top four and just two points behind Manchester City.
"I have been watching the last couple of games [Watford and Newcastle]. It's been nerve-wracking watching them, but a couple of great wins,” Kane said.
"Obviously, I want to be there helping my team, but you have got to have a positive mindset. I am just trying to stay as positive as possible. Hopefully I will be back as soon as possible."
Kane is a long-time Patriots fan and will be delighted to have watched his childhood idol Tom Brady win his sixth Super Bowl.
"I arrived last night and it's similar to a World Cup where everyone comes together," he added to BBC Sport.
"I was a huge Tom Brady fan growing up, he was a huge inspiration for me to reach the top."
Ahead of the win against Newcastle Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Kane is progressing well as a result of training on his own.
"He's in the Bahamas with our staff," said Pochettino. "He asked for permission to publish the video on social media. Every day we get a report, with videos and everything.
"After training the physio can go to the swimming pool and enjoy!"
Fernando Llorente has been used in Kane’s absence and while he scored an own goal during a calamitous performance against Fulham, he found the right net against Chelsea and scored a vital goal to begin the comeback against Watford.
