In-form striker Harry Kane has committed his long-term future to Tottenham after the club announced a new five-and-a-half year contract for the striker following his brace against West Brom on Saturday.

Spurs confirmed the news on their website via an official statement, meaning the 21-year-old will be tied down to the club until 2020 having burst onto the scene this season. Having impressed initially in the Europa League and Capital One Cup, Mauricio Pochettino threw the English striker in at the deep end, only to see him flourish as he took his tally to 20 goals in all competitions in the weekend victory over the Baggies.

His tremendous form has supported calls for an England call-up, with which he is likely to receive next month when Roy Hodgson announces his squad to face Lithuania in the Euro 2016 qualifiers and Italy in an international friendly.

The club statement read: “The Club is delighted to announce that Harry Kane has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract which runs until 2020.

“The young striker, still only 21, has been in outstanding form for us this season with 20 goals in all competitions, including a memorable double against Premier League leaders Chelsea at the Lane on New Year's Day.”

Fans have warmed to Kane immediately with his goalscoring run supported by the fact he is a home-grown Spurs fan and academy product. Kane made his first appearance for the north London club in the Europa League tie against Hearts in 2011, but made his first Premier League start towards the end of last season as he scored against Sunderland to announce his arrival on the big stage.
