We've got the views of Martyn Bowers - editor of Black Cats website.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.

Who has been your best player this season?

Kenwyne Jones. 10 assists and 7 goals in his first season. Worth his £6m price tag!

Who would you be glad to see the back of?

Reluctantly Paul McShane. Too many mistakes and just not up to scratch.

What was your best performance?

Aston Villa away. There can be no complaints as we more than deserved our belated success.

And the worst?

Newcastle, at home. No fight, no desire, no determination. What can you say?

Who have been your toughest opponents?

Man Utd. Beat us 4-0 and capitalised on every mistake.

Best player faced?

Torres or Ronaldo.

Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?

The linesman’s flag has flown off the pole a couple of times. Apart from that it’s been nail-biting.

Your perfect, but realistic signing?

Jonny Evans. We have him on-loan and he has the world at his feet. Brilliant defender.

Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?

We’re playing in the Premier League, again!

Reasons to be gloomy?

No, not really. We have to enjoy it while it lasts and we’ll go on to even better things next year.

Who will you support in Euro 2008?

France or Spain. Not too bothered to be honest.

Overall assessment of your manager?

Keane’s kept us in the league with two games to go. A brilliant achievement, and he’s learnt from mistakes.

And overall assessment of your team?

They’ve tested our patience at times but as mentioned before, we’re staying in the Premier League, so credit goes to the players and the manager for a remarkable season.

Marks out of 10?
