Paul Ince and Gilles Grimandi were punished by the Football Association yesterday after incidents during games earlier in the season.

Ince, the Middlesbrough and England midfielder, was fined £15,000 and warned about his future conduct after being found guilty of misconduct and use of abusive language during a home game against Derby County on 6 September.

The Arsenal defender Grimandi was fined £3,000 and given a one-match ban after being found guilty of improper behaviour and bringing the game into disrepute against Liverpool on 21 August.

The Swindon Town manager, Colin Todd, his assistant, Andy King, and the Carlisle United manager, Ian Atkins, were all found guilty of misconduct towards referees and of using foul and abusive language.

Todd was fined £2,500 and King £500 and both were warned about their future conduct. Atkins was handed a £1,000 fine, a 28-day touchline ban and was warned about his future conduct.

Walsall were also fined £2,500, with a further £2,500 suspended, after being found guilty of misconduct relating to a Football Trust application in not declaring a conflict of interests between the club and a potential contractor.
