Jack Wilshere has not had a further setback to his ankle injury, according to Arsenal's communications director Mark Gonnella.

Some reports over the weekend suggested that the midfielder, injured during the defeat to Manchester United on 22 November, would be out for longer than first anticipated.

But Gonnella took to social media site Twitter on Monday to address the reports, stating that Wilshere is remains on course to return in February next year.

"Jack Wilshere has not had a setback," he posted. "On schedule for return to squad as per original plan. 12 weeks from injury."

Wilshere is one of a number of players on the Arsenal sidelines, though Mathieu Debuchy could play his Galatasaray in what would be his first game since being injured against Everton on 13 September.

First-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is also in line to return in the Champions League match.
