Jamie Vardy will miss Leicester City’s Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday after being handed a one-match suspension for verbally abusing referee Jon Moss during the 2-2 draw against West Ham earlier this month.
England forward Vardy attended a personal hearing in front of a disciplinary commission on Monday in an effort to avoid a suspension for the incident, which followed his dismissal for diving against Slaven Bilic’s team.
Vardy had already accepted the charge, but the player had hoped to persuade the commission to spare him an additional suspension, on top of the one match ban which he served during Leicester’s 4-0 win at home to Swansea City on Sunday.

But despite his plea, the disciplinary commission imposed a further one-game ban, which means the 29-year-old will now be unavailable for the league leaders until the visit of Everton on 7 May.
