Professional football players polled in the Premier League, Football League and Scottish Premiership have voted Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as their ideal manager.

The Portuguese, whose team sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, gathered 48 per cent of the 123 votes in a survey conducted in FourFourTwo magazine.

Mourinho has won two Champions League trophes as well as titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.

"Players play for Mourinho," one League One player told the magazine. "Look what he did at Inter. Players would run through walls for him. That's 99% of winning."

Mourinho topped the poll ahead of Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, who was voted for by 31 per cent of the players.

Arsene Wenger came third but, somewhat surprisingly, won just eight per cent of the vote, two per cent ahead of West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, who was level with Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp.

Roy Hodgson managed to gain just one per cent of the vote.
