Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could reportedly make a dramatic return to training at Melwood after undergoing surgery to have his appendix removed on Saturday.

The German was rushed to hospital and missed the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Sunderland to undergo an operation after complaining of illness which later turned out to be a serious bout of appendicitis.

According to the Mirror, Klopp has discharged himself from hospital despite being expected to remain under observation and has since returned to his Merseyside home in Formby.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has allegedly told his players his will attempt to go into training to give them instructions ahead of the FA Cup fourth round replay with West Ham United tomorrow night.

Klopp was forced to watch his side collapse against the Black Cats from his hospital bed as Liverpool surrendered a two-goal lead to drop yet more points in the race to qualify for the Champions League.

The Reds say the 48-year-old ‘or a member of the first team coaching staff’ will hold a media briefing on Monday ahead of the trip to London.
