Premier League taking real trophy to Manchester City match and replica to Liverpool ahead of final day
Separate batches of medals will be taken to the Amex Stadium and Anfield
The Premier League will take identical trophies to both the Amex Stadium and Anfield this weekend so they are prepared for both potential outcomes of the title race on the final day of the Premier League.
The official trophy will travel with Manchester City for their fixture against Brighton on Sunday, but a second trophy will be taken to Liverpool in case Pep Guardiola’s side fall at the final hurdle.
Other competitions have opted to helicopter the trophy for competitions decided on the final day, but the Premier League ruled out that possibility.
Instead, the trophy taken to Liverpool will be an exact replica; while there will also be two separate batches of 40 winners’ medals taken to each ground.
The Premier League’s interim chair Claudia Arney will attend the game City's game in Brighton while interim chief executive Richard Masters will go to Merseyside where Liverpool take on Wolves.
Players who have made five or more appearances throughout the season will receive a medal.
