Liverpool open investigation on striker's '9/11 conspiracy' tweet

Liverpool are investigating the reserve team striker Nathan Eccleston for using Twitter to suggest he believes conspiracy theories that a secret society – the "Illuminati" – was responsible for orchestrating the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Eccleston deleted the message but Liverpool, owned by America's Fenway Sports Group, are considering disciplinary action, telling the Liverpool Echo: "The club takes this extremely seriously and we have informed Nathan Eccleston that we are investigating these postings and will decide on an appropriate course of action."
Kenny Dalglish yesterday met the referees' chief, Mike Riley, at Melwood to discuss his claims that Liverpool are not being treated fairly by officials. The Liverpool manager said: "We have never wanted preferential treatment, simply a level playing field," he said after the meeting.
