Liverpool 'relent' over £30m Alonso
Real Madrid are closing in on the transfer of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the La Liga giants for most of the summer, and reports today suggest a deal could be reaching its conclusion.
Real have reportedly increased their bid to £30m, with sources in Spain suggesting that Liverpool will relent considering the sizeable sum the Spanish club are willing to pay.
There are also reports that Manchester City and Chelsea are showing signs of interest now that Alonso has indicated he wishes to leave Anfield.
Alonso missed Liverpool's match against Thailand yesterday, but his representatives insist it was nothing suspicious and that he was suffering from a sprained ankle.
