Jordan Henderson makes way for Fabinho as Xherdan Shaqiri retains his place with Jurgen Klopp selecting him alongside the attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Unai Emery, meanwhile, has left Mesut Ozil out of the side due to an injury as one of four changes. Ozil was left out of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup defeat against Tottenham for ‘tactical reasons’ but was reinstated as captain for the 3-1 victory over Burnley days later. The German playmaker played 45 minutes against Brighton on Boxing Day but was withdrawn at half-time and has not been included in Emery’s team at Anfield.

Matteo Guendouzi, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette drop to the bench as Shkodran Mustafi, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi come into the side.

Fabinho is the one change for Liverpool

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Shaqiri, Mane, Salah, Firmino

Subs: Mignolet, Clyne, Keita, Henderson, Sturridge, Lallana, Origi
