The Reds started as the overwhelming pre-match favourites and it took them just four minutes to break the deadlock. Andy Robertson found himself in space down the left with Mohamed Salah finishing his cross from inside the box.
Sheffield United never looked likely of upsetting Liverpool and the home side made sure of the win in the second-half. Sadio Mane combined with Salah, the pair swapping passes before the former beat Dean Henderson.
The win means Liverpool are thirteen points clear of second-place Leicester City with one game in hand.
