Mauricio Pochettino reacts to Tottenham's defeat against Southampton

Liverpool’s main concern heading into their clash with Tottenham is the fitness of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the back-up options should he not be fit.

The 20-year-old withdrew from the England squad with a back injury, and is touch and go for Sunday’s match. With Joe Gomez also just returning to training, it is likely the ever-dependable James Milner would cover at right-back.

Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri have both complained of niggles but are likely to be fit; Naby Keita’s participation is in doubt after he missed the latest round of international fixtures.

For Tottenham, Eric Dier is a concern after he limped off 15 minutes into England’s game against the Czech Republic last week.

Serge Aurier also came off with a suspected hamstring injury during Ivory Coast’s game against Rwanda last Saturday; Harry Winks has not played for four weeks but could return.

Predicted line-ups

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Milner, Mane, Salah, Firmino

Tottenham: Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose, Wanyama, Sissoko, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Kane

Odds…

Liverpool to win: 6/10

Tottenham to win: 9/2

Draw: 10/3

Prediction…

Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

A big game for both teams, but Tottenham’s poor domestic form in recent months means Liverpool have the edge here. As they’re likely to head into the match in second place, with Manchester City playing Fulham on Saturday, the onus is on Jurgen Klopp’s side to respond with three points. Tottenham will have to stop the in-form Sadio Mane, who has scored five goals in his last three games, and Liverpool have an excellent home record against Spurs, winning five of the last seven games in all competitions at Anfield.
