Luis Suarez's goal in the 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham on Sunday brought the total of Premier League goals for his partnership with Daniel Sturridge up to 49 this season, equalling the original SAS duo - Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton - who netted 49 goals for Blackburn Rovers in 1994/95.

Suarez who has now scored 29 goals, plus Sturridge, who has netted 20, are also closing in on the record of the most lethal duo in Premier League history, a record which has stood for 20 years set by Andy Cole and Peter Beardsley for Newcastle United in 1993/94, when the pair scored a combined 55 goals to fire the Magpies to a third-placed finish.

Only one other duo have scored more than 50 Premier League goals combined in a season - Didier Drogba (29) and Frank Lampard (22) totalled 51 goals in 2009/10 and Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea side won the title.
