Luke Shaw has recovered from a hamstring injury and is in line to make his Manchester United debut against Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 19-year-old left-back, whose fitness levels were criticised by manager Louis van Gaal during pre-season, picked up a hamstring problem against Valencia on 16 August.

While Shaw, the £30m addition from Southampton, is available to play - Van Gaal remains without nine other first-team players, including Ander Herrera and Rafael.

"When I left for the international break it was 10 [players injured] so only one is back – Shaw," Van Gaal told reporters at his press briefing today.

"Shaw is fit enough to play but not the whole game – there is a difference. [Marouane] Fellaini is longer than a month and [Phil] Jones is maybe three weeks or a month.

"[Michael] Carrick is not ready but he has run for the first time on grass, which is unbelievable after eight weeks. [Sam] Johnstone has elbow problems, [Chris] Smalling is not fit enough but he shall train tomorrow with the second-team squad for the first time.

"[James] Wilson and [Reece] James are not ready yet, and [Jesse] Lingard and [Ashley] Young are also injured."

Alongside Shaw, Radamel Falcao, Marcos Rojo, and Daley Blind could all also make their debuts for the club this weekend.
