Rashford missed several clear-cut chances against Astana

Marcus Rashford's form is not a concern to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite the striker's struggle for goals from open play.

Rashford missed several gilt-edged chances in Manchester United's narrow 1-0 Europa League victory over Astana on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old has only scored once from open play this season, with the other two of his three goals from the penalty spot.

But Solskjaer has been encouraged by the positions Rashford is taking up and believes it is a matter of time before his fortunes change.

"He's getting the chances," Solskjaer said. "Of course, he could have had three today. The 'keeper made a few fantastic saves.

"I don't worry about that, no. We're working every single day in training with Marcus. He wants to improve, wants to be better.

"He could've finished with his left instead of his right today. It's just one of those days. I thought their 'keeper was excellent."

Romelu Lukaku's departure from Old Trafford has left much of the responsibility for United's goal-scoring with Rashford and Anthony Martial.

The pair have five between them since the start of the season and Solskjaer is confident that number will increase as time goes on.

"All the goals we've scored have come from the forwards with Marcus and Anthony, and Dan James," he said.

"I'm sure they'll chip in with many many goals. [Rashford] is still young, he'll improve. You won't hit your peak as a striker until you're 26 or 27.

"He's still learning what finishes to make in different circumstances."
