Ole Gunnar Solskjaer determined to make it third time lucky for Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has backed his high-flying team-mate Mason Greenwood to continue improving.

Greenwood, 18, has scored 17 goals in establishing himself as a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team this season, but he is still far from his peak, according to Fernandes.

“I think Mason has done a great season, of course,” Fernandes told the Daily Mirror. “He’s young and he has great numbers this season.

“The age is just a number, and you see Mason has done very well. He can do much more because of the qualities he has, and he still has to grow up physically.

“He did fantastically this season and he will get better. He needs to play more and get more confidence from his team-mates and the staff, and I think he will get much better because he has that quality.”

Fernandes also said there is a responsibility on the older players in the United squad to set a good example for the younger ones.

“I think we have such good young players, but when you arrive at the first team the age is just a number,” said Fernandes, who is still just 25 but has emerged as a leader since joining the club in January.

“It’s about mentality and the older ones need to pass the good mentality to the younger ones.”

United are next in action on Sunday, taking on Sevilla in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
