Manchester United take on Crystal Palace this weekend with a crisis engulfing their defence.

Chris Smalling is certain to be out due to a one-game suspension for his double booking and subsequent red card in the defeat to Manchester City last weekend.

During that game at the Etihad, summer signing Marcos Rojo also ensure he'd be playing no part this weekend (or any weekends for at least the next few weeks) when he dislocated his shoulder sliding into a challenge.

Worryingly for Louis van Gaal, they are not likely to be the only specialist defenders ruled out, meaning Michael Carrick may have to be utilised at the back.

Heading into Saturday's match at Old Trafford concerns remain over Radamel Falcao whose start to life at Old Trafford hasn't gone as planned. The Colombian, who is on loan from Monaco, has missed the last three games (first through jet-leg and then after picking up a knock in training) and remains on just one goal for his current club.
