Manchester United will face stern pre-season opposition with clashes against Barcelona and PSG during a tour of America to contest the International Champions Cup, which they won last summer.

Louis van Gaal's side warm up for the fixtures against the European heavyweights with matches against Mexico's Club America in Seattle on Friday 17 July, and the MLS side San Jose Earthquakes at the 62,467-capacity California Memorial Stadium on Tuesday 21 July.

Barca will then face United in Santa Clara on Saturday 25 July, before ex-United defender Laurent Blanc's PSG side will meet the Red Devils in Chicago on Wednesday 29 July.

After securing Champions League football despite a season of transition under Van Gaal, United will be hoping a strong pre-season can launch the club towards an assault on a 14th Premier League title in 2015/16. The manager, who expressed some misgivings about last year's pre-season, has declared that he is pleased with his side's summer schedule.

Confirmed Manchester United pre-season fixtures 2015/16:

Club America vs Manchester United, Friday 17 July, International Champions Cup, CenturyLink Field Seattle, 8.00pm (4.00am BST)

San Jose Earthquakes vs Manchester United, Tuesday 21 July, International Champions Cup, California Memorial Stadium

Barcelona vs Manchester United, Saturday 25 July, International Champions Cup, Levi's Stadium Santa Clara, 12.00am (8.00am BST)
