Manchester United new boy Romelu Lukaku has rejected suggestions he is built in the mould of former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and has instead insisted he wants to instead emulate the goalscoring records of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski .
Lukaku joined the Red Devils from Everton this summer for an initial £75m, which could eventually rise to a world-record fee, surpassing the £89m deal for Paul Pogba 12 months ago.
He has so far scored twice during United’s US tour and is hoping to kick on from the 25 goals he bagged in the Premier League last season.

While at Chelsea, Lukaku, due to his size and physicality, was dubbed the heir to Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge, a comparison he has rejected and something that has been brought up again since his reunion with Jose Mourinho.
“I am different. Drogba is more of a target man, I am a player that has the ball into feet, who runs in behind,” said Lukaku.
“There are physical similarities but we are totally different players. I am Romelu Lukaku and I want to create my own history. He was at Chelsea, I am at Manchester United. That is the difference.”
Now at Old Trafford, Lukaku has set his sights on reaching the goalscoring levels of the likes of United legend Ronaldo and Bayern Munich frontman Lewandowski – although admitted he still has a way to go before he can be considered in the same bracket.
“I am far from that level but that is where I want to aim,” he said of the comparisons.
“It is all about the team for me, I want the team to win trophies and I will do everybody in my power to make sure the team wins.
“There is always room for improvement and I just want to be the best person I can be.
