Twitter is not often the place to go for sympathy if you are a Premier League footballer – as Michael Carrick discovered to his cost on Wednesday afternoon.
The Manchester United and England midfielder took to social media after missing his train by mere seconds, to the general amusement of commuters.
Unfortunately, he left himself open to some rather predictable ridicule, mostly appearing to involve his lack of pace on the pitch.
