Manchester United are set to launch a bid for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero, according to reports today.

Sir Alex Ferguson has allegedly become frustrated by his failure to tempt Valencia striker David Villa to Old Trafford and has instead turned his attention to Aguero.

The Argentine international is valued at around £45m.

Ferguson has stepped up his hunt for a striker since it became apparent that Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo would be leaving the club.
