Jose Mourinho has once again put the emphasis on his players to drag Manchester United back into contention for the European places, claiming "there isn't space for people that are not ready to give it their all" in some pointed programme notes ahead of the game with Arsenal.

The United boss gave his players a dressing-down both before and after the draw with Southampton on Saturday over a lack of commitment.

According to the Daily Record, Mourinho went as far as to call club-record buy Paul Pogba a 'virus' in an astonishing post-match rant. The Independent has been told by multiple sources that Mourinho's relationship with the dressing room is at an all-time low after laying into the squad and calling them 'spoiled'.

And rather than try to calm the storm enveloping eighth-placed United, Mourinho has chosen his column in the matchday programme to stoke some fires ahead of a game against old foe Arsenal that the Old Trafford club simply can't afford to lose.

"This is a game which we want to win and, to have the best chance of that, we have to remember the saying that 'simplicity is genius'.

"We have to make our weaknesses become our strengths, with real determination, pride and desire to win the match.

"There isn't space for people that are not ready to give it their all."
