Louis van Gaal has kept British record signing Angel Di Maria on the bench for the game against Aston Villa.

The Manchester United manager has made just one change to the team that beat Liverpool at Anfield a couple of weeks ago, with Marcos Rojo coming in for centre-back Chris Smalling.

The England man was forced off with illness against Italy earlier this week and has not recovered in time to play Tim Sherwood's men.

Van Gaal continues with Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia at the full-back spots, while Marouane Fellaini retains his place up front with Wayne Rooney, with Robin van Persie still out.

For Aston Villa, Tim Sherwood makes three changes to the team that lost to Swansea City. Andreas Weimann comes in for Scott Sinclair, Carlos Sanchez is in for Tom Cleverley and Matthew Lowton for Leandro Bacuna.

LINE-UPS:

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Mata, Fellaini, Young, Rooney.

Subs: Valdes, Rafael, McNair, Pereira, Januzaj, Di Maria, Falcao.

Aston Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Clark, Lowton, Delph, Sanchez, N’Zogbia, Weimann, Agbonlahor, Benteke.
