Manchester United travel to RB Leipzig with their Champions League fate hanging in the balance but their task at the Red Bull Arena is simple: do not lose.

Whether United win Group H and are seeded for next Monday’s last-16 draw depends on the result between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir.

Group H

1Manchester United 5302+69
2Paris Saint-Germain 5 3 0 2 +3 9
3 RB Leipzig 5 3 0 2 -2 9
4 Istanbul Basaksehir 5 1 0 4 -7 3

If United win…

They will qualify.

A win is only enough for United to top the group if PSG fail to beat Basaksehir.

If United draw…

They will qualify.

A draw is only enough for United to win the group if PSG lose to Basaksehir.

If United lose…

They will finish third and drop into the Europa League, no matter what happens in the PSG-Basaksehir game.

What if United and PSG are level on points?

PSG will finish above United.

Neymar’s late goal in the 3-1 win at Old Trafford last week gave PSG a head-to-head advantage, with a 4-3 aggregate lead over their two games against United.

What if United, PSG and Leipzig are all level on points?

If both Group H games end in a draw, United, PSG and Leipzig will all be level on 10 points.

In this scenario, United would qualify as group winners as they would have the best record from games between the three clubs.

PSG would be runners-up. Leipzig would finish third and drop into the Europa League.

What about the other groups on Tuesday night?

Group E

Chelsea’s group is settled. Frank Lampard’s side beat Sevilla last week to move three points clear at the top with a superior head-to-head record.

Third-place Krasnodar took the Europa League spot by beating Rennes.

Group F

Borussia Dortmund have qualified and will win the group if they better or equal Lazio’s result.

Lazio will qualify if they avoid defeat to Club Brugge.

Group G

Barcelona and Juventus have both qualified and play each other to win the group at Camp Nou.

Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros will decide who takes third-place and drops into the Europa League.
