Marcus Rashford is comparable to Cristiano Ronaldo when at his very best, according to his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rashford has been in excellent form since the middle of October, with scored 13 goals in his last 14 games for Manchester United and England.

Three of those goals have come over the course the last week in crucial victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

His first against Tottenham, hit instinctively from the edge of the penalty area to outfox goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, had some drawing comparisons with ex-United forward Ronaldo.

When that comparison was made after Saturday’s win at the Etihad, Solskjaer said: “It’s very easy to compare the two of them, yeah.

“Both with skills, body shape, attitude, attributes – everything. The boy has every chance in the world to become a top, top player. Let’s hope he continues like this.”

Rashford’s penalty against City was his 10th league goal of the campaign already, equalling his previous best record.

The United academy graduate is the fourth-highest scorer in the top flight, behind only Jamie Vardy, Tammy Abraham and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

“I don’t want to talk about the amount of goals,” Solskjaer said. “As long as he keeps being positive and being direct and thinking about getting in front of the goal and getting chances, he’ll score goals.”
