Manchester United legend Dennis Irwin says new signing Memphis Depay can bend it like David Beckham next season.

Well, he didn't actually say that but the former Republic of Ireland international does believe that Depay has the ability to match David Beckham's free-kick prowess.

Depay, bought for £25million from PSV Eindhoven this summer, is a dead-ball expert, just like Beckham and Irwin were in their spells at Old Trafford.

"I think Memphis could match Becks in that sense," he told Manchester United's official website.

"I saw him score a few goals last year for PSV and I think he will be a big addition to our team. It’s still early days yet, but there’s no doubt that he has a lot of talent.

"He brings that unpredictability and we don’t possess too many players like that. His records will tell you that, even though he’s young, he’s a goal scorer as well.
