Memphis Depay has not lived up to expectations since moving to Manchester United for £25million in the summer.

The Duch winger, mooted by some to be a future Cristiano Ronaldo in the United No 7 shirt, has scored just two goals and failed to provide an assist in the Premier League this season.

In the first half against Stoke City, Depay, who has also been criticised for his attitude and lack of work rate, was the target of fans' anger on social media.

For Stoke's fist goal Depay, deep in the left-back position and seemingly untroubled, inexplicably leaped at the ball to header it back to David De Gea.

The pass-back was painfully short and Glen Johnson capitalised, racing through on goal and pulling the ball back for Bojan to score.

Six minutes later Depay was again the subject of anger and quickly became a trending topic.

Bojan hit a free-kick that cannoned back off the wall and landed at the feet of Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrian blasted the ball at goal and past David De Gea - on replay it was clear the Depay jumped out of the way.

With club captain Wayne Rooney sitting on the bench the response was not pleasant....

Depay was then hauled off at half-time by Van Gaal, replaced by Louis van Gaal.
