Arsenal are understood to be relaxed over Mesut Ozil's conduct after the midfielder was pictured clubbing in Berlin just hours after missing the 2-1 Premier League victory over Newcastle with illness.

The World Cup winner was left out of the Gunners’ squad for the trip to St James’ Park and was allowed to fly to Germany early to aid his recovery ahead of the national team’s international friendly against Australia on Wednesday and their 2016 European Championship qualifier against Georgia on Sunday.

It appeared Ozil made the most of his early trip home by paying a visit to a nightclub in the German capital.

Arsene Wenger is expected to talk with Ozil about the inconvenient images, however it's understood no formal sanctions will be taken against the 26-year-old and that he is not guilty of any serious wrongdoing.

Wenger has already had to deal with indiscretions among his playing squad this season having sanctioned goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny after the was caught smoking in the St Mary’s changing rooms following the 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year’s Day.

Szczesny was warned by Wenger and given a fine, and the Poland international was subsequently dropped from the first team in favour of David Ospina, although it can be argued that Szczesny’s form alone was enough to see him take a break from the starting line-up as he was at fault for both goals conceded against Saints.
