Arsenal are set to reward playmaker Mesut Ozil with a new contract, according to reports.

The club's £42.5m record signing has been in fine form this season, making 10 assists in the Premier League, more than any other player.

The 27-year-old still has two years to run on his current deal, but the club reportedly want to extend his contract to 2019.

Ozil, who is currently on international duty with Germany, joined the Arsenal from Real Madrid back in September 2013.

Speaking earlier this season, Gunners' manager Arsene Wenger said that "world class" Ozil can only get better.

“I believe that I have said many times that a player of his calibre you want him to add to his assists,” he said.

“He is a world class player and if he adds goals to his game he will be even more respected.”

Arsenal are next in action away at West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday.
