Jurgen Klopp questions use of VAR after Chelsea loss

Naby Keita will undergo a scan on Wednesday to determine the full extent of a hamstring injury suffered on international duty.

The Liverpool midfielder was substituted during the first half of Guinea's Africa Cup of Nations draw with Rwanda on Tuesday, having clutched at his thigh while playing.

Keita became the fourth Liverpool player to either suffer injury or withdraw from international duty during the current break, following problems for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Virgil van Dijk.

The 23-year-old, who suffered a back injury in his last Liverpool start earlier this month, is now a doubt for Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Town and the Champions League visit of Red Star Belgrade next week.

Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, will also monitor the fitness of Salah, who sustained a groin injury in Egypt’s win over eSwatini, and Mané, who broke his thumb in training with Senegal.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, has been playing with two broken ribs for several weeks, according to Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman.

The defender's rib issue first came to light after Liverpool's Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain last month, though the full extent of the injury was not previously known.

Van Dijk and James Milner, who suffered a hamstring injury in the draw with Manchester City on the eve of the international break, are both in contention to play against Huddersfield.
