Harry Kane's 30th goal of the season sealed Tottenham's first win in the league for almost an month.
Spurs started strong and opened the score on 30 minutes after a 25-yard shot by Nacer Chadli which sent his team to the dressing room with the half-time lead.
Newcastle tried to fight back and got a quick equaliser after the break with Jack Colback scoring just one minute into the second half.
But Mauricio Pochettino's side quickly regained the lead on 53 minutes thanks to a free-kick by Christian Eriksen which signalled the beginning of the end for the Magpies.
On 90 minutes, a Tottenham counter attack saw Kane running with the ball and sending it past Tim Krul's into the net. It saw the England international move level with Sergio Aguero at the top of the Premier League goalscoring table with 20 each whilst it was his 30th in all competitions.
Another defeat for John Carver's team extends their losing streak to six, meaning they haven't won since February and are now in 14th place.
