Peter Odemwingie excited by West Brom relegation pressure

Leading scorer Peter Odemwingie insists West Brom will thrive rather than buckle under the pressure of trying to stay in the Barclays Premier League.

Nine-goal Odemwingie believes this is not the time for self-doubt to creep in as the Baggies enter the final third of the campaign.

New manager Roy Hodgson's side edged one point clear of the bottom three thanks to on-loan Carlos Vela's late equaliser against Wolves at the Hawthorns on Sunday.

Odemwingie said: "I believe that this is a team that does better under pressure, like when we got the good results earlier in the season, like when we fought back against Wigan and Blackpool.

"I think then we show our character and this is what we will need in these big games coming up now.

"Now is the time when we have to be very focused. We must not have any doubt in ourselves or in our abilities and then maybe we can get the job done.

"It is a big chance for us in this period - and we must try to take it."
