Harry Kane is among the six players short listed for the Premier League's PFA Player of the Year award, adding to an incredible breakthrough season for the Tottenham youngster.

The 21-year-old, who has scored 19 goals in the league so far this season and received his first England call-up, is joined on the shortlist by Manchester United's David de Gea, Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and Chelsea duo Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.

The list, which is voted for by players from 100 clubs from the Premier League, Football League and Women's Super League, contains few surprises.

It was impossible for Kane to be left out after such a remarkable season at White Hart Lane, whilst summer arrivals to the Premier League Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa have been outstanding.

Whilst David De Gea has easily been Manchester United's most consistent player, some might argue that Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois has actually been the better goalkeeper this season.

Meanwhile, for all the talk and contract shenanigans surrounding Raheem Sterling this season, it is his Liverpool team-mate Coutinho (who is just two years older) whose achievements have been recognised by his peers.

Manchester City are the highest placed team in the Premier League table without a nominee.

The winner will be announced on the 26 April.
