Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is the favourite to be the next Premier League boss to be sacked by his employers.

The Reds were well beaten by their rivals Manchester United on Saturday evening at Old Trafford and failed to fire, with their goal in the 3-1 defeat coming via a brilliant Christian Benteke volley.

Rodgers has now been installed as the favourite for the chop by nearly all of the major bookmakers, ahead of Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat, whose team are rock bottom of the Premier League and without a win this season following the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.

The pressure is also mounting on Jose Mourinho. After leading Chelsea to the title last season the Blues have had a rotten start to the campaign, with only one win in their first five matches.

Problems behind the scenes and off the pitch, including the handling of club doctor Eva Carneiro, as well as the poor performances on it, mean there are growing question marks on the future of the Portuguese - although he says that there is no pressure on him.

Odds on Tim Sherwood also shorted after Aston Villa conceded three goals in the final 20 minutes to lose to Leicester.

Arsene Wenger and Manuel Pellegrini remain the least likely to be sacked next, according to the bookies.
