How will the Premier's League's six biggest clubs line up this weekend?

The Premier League‘s big six are back in action after midweek European adventures.

There were comfortable Champions League wins for Liverpol and Tottenham Hotspur, and now the pair do battle at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Manchester United are also in action on Sunday, tasked with a tricky trip to Carrow Road and a Norwich side that have already felled one top six contender this season.

Liverpool’s first dropped points of the season last weekend have renewed hope at the Etihad Staidum, where Manchester City will look to keep the pressure on at the top against Aston Villa.

Elsewhere, fifth-placed Arsenal host a London derby with sixth-placed Crystal Palace, and Chelsea travel to Burnley buoyed by another fine performance against Ajax

Here’s how we think the Premier League’s big six might line up this weekend:

Manchester City (vs Aston Villa)

Manchester City’s major injury concern is Rodri, who limped off in midweek with an apparent hamstring injury.

With the Spaniard out, Ilkay Gundogan will likely continue at the base of the midfield three, with John Stones replacing Rodri at the back alongside Fernandinho.

Kyle Walker is fit again and may retake the right-back berth, while Riyad Mahrez could be reintroduced in the place of a misfiring Bernardo Silva.

Chelsea (vs Burnley)

N’Golo Kante is a doubt for Chelsea, who have found real form built around their developing young core.

Christian Pulisic is pushing for a start with a number of enterprising cameos from the bench, but will struggle to displace Callum Hudson-Odoi and Willian.

One of the beneficiaries of the turnaround of Frank Lampard’s side has been Marcos Alonso, who is playing well and keeps out Emerson.

Arsenal (vs Crystal Palace)

Arsenal may be able to reunite Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Crystal Palace, with Nicolas Pepe likely completing a potentially potent forward triumvirate.

Kieran Tierney may get an opportunity to bed himself in further at left-back in the place of Sead Kolasinac, though on the opposite flank Callum Chambers should continue to be preferred to Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal’s midfield combination is hard to predict, but there were signs in the win over Bournemouth before the international break that the above trio may be the group to stick with.

Liverpool (vs Tottenham)

Liverpool’s big selection conundrum comes in midfield – both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita present strong cases for inclusion to add something different in that area.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s two-goal Champions League performance may see him get the nod.

Otherwise, it is a familiar starting lineup, with the return of Alisson adding security in goal and Mohamed Salah fit to start again after missing out against Manchester United.

Tottenham (vs Liverpool)

Mauricio Pochettino’s selection is hard to forecast, but the back three didn’t really work last weekend, and it is likely Tottenham return to a four.

The pace of Davinson Sanchez, Danny Rose and Serge Aurier may be an asset against Liverpool’s front three, but Ben Davies will come into consideration for Rose’s place, with the England left-back hopelessly out of form.

Despite starring in midweek, Erik Lamela may have to be content with a place on the bench with Dele Alli’s ability in combination with Kane perhaps favoured. Lamela may be joined among the substitutes by Giovani Lo Celso and Christian Eriksen, ensuring Pochettino has plenty of creativity on which to call if required.

Manchester United (vs Norwich)

David De Gea will likely be fit to play for Manchester United, who appear likely to continue to be without Paul Pogba.

Ashley Young did not travel to Serbia but will almost certainly start at left-back, with the semi-successful three at the back formation of last weekend likely not to get another outing against a very different opponent.

The return of Anthony Martial is welcome for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Either the Frenchman or Marcus Rashford could start as the central prong of what looks a dangerous front three.
