Roy Keane delivered stinging criticism of Kyle Walker’s performance in the first half of Manchester City’s Premier League showdown with Liverpool. Walker was responsible for conceding an early penalty when he clattered into Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah scored from the spot to give Liverpool the lead. Gabriel Jesus’s equaliser made it 1-1 at the break, but speaking on Sky Sports, Keane did not hold back in his assessment of the City defender.
“He’s up against an idiot,” said Keane, explaining why Mane won the penalty. “People keep telling me Kyle Walker’s playing well – I don’t think so. He’s an international, 30 years old, and he’s a car crash.”
Fellow pundit and former City defender Micah Richards defended Walker.“He’s been one of our best players this season. I think Roy’s being a bit overboard there,” he said.
