Spurs pay rise to chairman's firm

Tottenham's annual report and accounts has revealed a fee of almost £1m paid to Daniel Levy's ENIC Group Ltd, rising from £775,000 the previous year.

The £950,000 is listed under "fees" to Levy but are paid to ENIC – the sports, entertainment and media group of which the Spurs chairman is managing director.

Levy was delighted with the club's record financial results when the figures for the year up to last June were first announced a fortnight ago. He and the club have been criticised since for the manner in which Martin Jol was dismissed as manager, with Juande Ramos taking over this week.

Ramos is seen as the man to take the team to the next level and reach the Champions League, although Levy was not at the unveiling of the Spaniard at White Hart Lane yesterday afternoon.

Seville are threatening action against Spurs for their approach for Ramos, while the new Spurs boss has been linked with moves for his former players when the transfer window opens in January.

Fredi Kanouté, among the players who flourished under Ramos at Seville, insists he is happy at the club but could not confirm how long he will be at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

He told Sky Sports: "My situation is that I have a contract here. After this season I have two seasons left so there is absolutely no hurry for me. I will continue here. I don't know how long for, but I have a contract here, so I will see."
