Swansea City announce caretaker boss Alan Curtis will remain in charge until the end of the season

Swansea City have announced that caretaker boss Alan Curtis will remain in charge until the end of the season.
The 61-year-old has taken five points from five games since taking over following the dismissal of Garry Monk in December, overseeing a vital win against West Bromwich Albion.
The Swans currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, two points above the relegation zone, following last weekend’s narrow defeat at Manchester United.
Former Sunderland boss Gus Poyet and Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa had been tipped to take the helm at the Liberty Stadium.
Club chairman Huw Jenkins has, however, shown faith in a caretaker who has stabilised the club’s form, as he did with Monk following Michael Laudrup’s sacking in 2014.
Curtis, who made 364 appearance for Swansea across three spells during the 1970s and 1980s, told the media during the Christmas period that he was prepared to manage the club for the rest of the 2015/16 campaign if needed.
“I will carry on for as long as it takes, if it's the weekend or a little bit further we will do what it takes for the club to continue to show the improvement on the field and, perhaps more importantly, pick up points,” he said last month.
“Part of the equation would be if we were to win a couple of games and the performances carry on being decent, then probably the need to appoint a new manager is not so great.”
