'That's not going to happen': Jermain Defoe rubbishes speculation he will leave Tottenham for QPR

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has dismissed speculation that he is set for a reunion with Harry Redknapp by moving to QPR.

Soon after Redknapp was installed at Loftus Road, speculation mounted that he would make a move for the England striker who has played under him at three different clubs.

However, Defoe today insisted he has no intention of moving across London to Loftus Road and implied he would like to finish his career at Tottenham.

"That's not going to happen. I'm not leaving Tottenham, I love the club and to score goals at a big club like this is fantastic," Defoe told Sky Sports News.

"If the opportunity comes to leave the club it won't be happening. I don't want to leave, I'm a Spurs player - and I'm happy.

"I think I can say I'd like to finish my career at Tottenham. I want to achieve something special here - it's a great time to be at the club."

Defoe's comments follow that of his manager Andre Villas-Boas, who said earlier this week about the possibility of selling the 30-year-old: "That's not possible," adding, "It's absolutely impossible. We have the belief in him."

Redknapp is desperate to bolster his striker force as he looks to escape relegation with his new side, but it would seem he will have to look beyond the striker who played under him at Tottenham, West Ham and Portsmouth.
