Tottenham want Manchester City v Stoke fixture to be rearranged

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed they want the Premier League to bring forward the date of Manchester City's rearranged Barclays Premier League clash against Stoke.

The two clubs were due to meet at Eastlands on FA Cup final weekend but their participation in the showpiece has forced a rethink and the game is now set for Tuesday, May 17 - in the final week of the domestic season.

Spurs are concerned this could impact on their own bid to qualify for next season's Champions League and Redknapp told a press conference today: "I think they should look at it.

"The chairman spoke to me last night about it. We feel it should be changed - but it's a bit out of my hands."

If Stoke were to lose the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 14, they could still qualify for next season's Europa League if City were to finish in the top four in the Premier League.

That would see City make the Champions League and mean they would not need the FA Cup's Europa League place, which would go to the Potters.

However, Redknapp has more pressing concerns - tomorrow's north London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham did not have a fixture at the weekend, while Arsenal were involved in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.

However, Redknapp refuted claims his team would have an advantage because of the lack of recent action.

He explained: "We've played more games than they have lately - we've been playing in the Champions League."

On Sunday's clash at the Emirates Stadium, he added: "Arsenal pulled it out of the fire with a minute to go, then Liverpool showed fantastic spirit to get the equaliser."
