Manchester United have their sights on Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic, with a £25m move expected in January.

After the debacle of the last transfer window, David Moyes has made signing a creative midfielder his main priority and the Bosnian international has caught the eye of the Manchester United scouts.

However given Pjanic's excellent form so far this season, helping Roma to top Serie A with nine consecutive wins, United may be forced to pay more than £25m for the midfielder with his club reluctant to sell halfway through the campaign.

David Moyes' search for improvements to his midfield have been well documented, with Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera - a summer target - still said to be on the club's radar.

However Pjanic's creativity in inspiring Roma's excellent start to the season under new manager Rudi Garcia, certainly counts in his favour.

Reports in Italy suggest Roma are set to offer the Bosnian a generous new five-year deal in an attempt to keep him at the club, but this would surely pale in comparison to the amounts of money that Manchester United would be able to offer him.
