World Cup-winning goalkeeper Fabien Barthez isexpected to wait until tomorrow at the earliest before making his Manchester United debut.

That will leave Raimond van der Gouw to face Real Madrid tonight when United take part in the four-team Bayern Munich centenary tournament.

Sir Alex Ferguson takes a 21-man squad to Munich, where the Premiership champions have the toughest possible start against the European champions. The winners go into Saturday's final against either the host club or the Turkish Uefa Cup holders, Galatasaray, with the losers meeting in the third-place play-off.

Real Madrid knocked United out of the Champions' League in April. Van der Gouw kept goal in both legs of the quarter-final.
