Ancelotti feels Chelsea have turned a corner (PA)

Carlo Ancelotti is confident that his Chelsea side have recovered their form after winning two league games in six days. The Premier League champions' results had declined seriously throughout the winter but, after winning three consecutive matches, Ancelotti believes his team have left their poor spell behind them.

"I think so," he said, when asked if a corner had been turned. "Now we have three games where we have played very well, taking good results. I think the moment is gone – finally."

Chelsea's poor run saw them win just four from 14 Premier League games, as they dropped from the top of the table down to fifth. Their results began to turn, however, with a 2-0 Champions League win in Copenhagen on 22 February. This was followed, one week later, by a 2-1 home win over Manchester United. Then, on Monday, Chelsea beat Blackpool 3-1 at Bloomfield Road, with the three goals scored by veteran pair John Terry and Frank Lampard.

Ancelotti praised the goal-scorers after the game. "Terry's and Lampard's performances were very good," he said, "not just because they scored. In general the players gave good support to the team and this is important."

He also praised Salomon Kalou, who came on in the second half and was involved in both of Lampard's goals. "Kalou made a fantastic impact," Ancelotti said. "He moved very well and that was very important for us."
