Manchester City recovered from a nightmare start at West Ham to fight back and draw 2-2, as they nudged ahead of Arsenal into second place on goal difference.

There was less only some 55 seconds on the clock when Enner Valencia converted a deflected cross from Cheikhou Kouyate to put the Irons 1-0 up.

City, though, were soon level when Sergio Aguero, who had just hit the post, equalised from the penalty spot on nine minutes after being tripped by full-back Carl Jenkinson.

Defender Martin Demichelis escaped with only a yellow card for hauling down Michail Antonio when the West Ham man looked through on goal after a quick counter attack.

West Ham were back in front early in the second half when Valencia slotted the ball past Joe Hart following a long throw-in which bounced over City defender Nicolas Otamendi.

However, Aguero also grabbed his second of the game late on which secured City a share of the points - but only after Kouyate's header hit the crossbar in stoppage time.
