There might be a World Cup taking place this summer, but after one of the most thrilling Premier League seasons in recent memory, anticipation ahead of the 2014/15 season is already building.

The new campaign really kicks into gear with the announcement of the fixture list.

The Premier League will release the 2014/15 fixtures on Wednesday 18 June at 9am BST.

Some of those fixtures will quickly be shifted around as Sky Sports and BT Sport select which games they wish to broadcast. That usually happens within a couple of weeks of the initial announcement.

Teams playing in Europe may also have their games switched to ease congestion.

Traditionally if a team plays at home on the opening day of the season, they will finish the campaign with an away game, however this is not always possible due to other pressures, such as police concerns of other sides playing nearby.

Among the most excited by the announcement will be the three newly promoted sides Leicester, Burnley and QPR. Manchester City will be defending the title.
