McGinn in heart scare

The Scottish Football Association president Jack McGinn is to undergo major heart surgery after being taken ill at the weekend.

McGinn was taken into hospital for tests after he suffered chest pains and will now have a triple heart bypass tomorrow at the HCI International Medical Centre in Clydebank.

The SFA chief executive David Taylor said: "The news that he requires major surgery came as a shock, because Jack is fit and active.

"Along with everyone in football, I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back before too long."

The Dunfermline striker Jack de Gier has sealed his return to the Netherlands with a £400,000 move to Twente Enschede. The Dutchman, who linked up with the Scottish side in a £200,000 summer switch from NEC Nijmegen, bid farewell with a double against St Johnstone on Saturday.

Dunfermline's manager Jimmy Calderwood was reluctant to sell him, but a homesick De Gier was allowed to return to his homeland to be reunited with his family. The Pars' general manager Paul D'Mello confirmed: "He has joined Dutch club Twente Enschede for an undisclosed fee. We have recovered the transfer fee that we paid for him and made a wee bit of a profit as well which is a good deal for both parties."

Dundee's manager Ivano Bonetti admits Jiang Jin is on his way to Scotland – but insists that the Chinese goalkeeper will not be signing for the Dens Park club.

Although he admits Jiang was keen to join the Tayside club until the end of the season, Bonetti claims the player's only reason for making the trip to Scotland is to spend time with his close friend Fan Zhiyi, who has signed for the club.
